A friend of mine has recently started a project called News Attic which is an archive of RSS feeds. The great thing about it is that you can search by a specific date and use the calendar find out what Blogs were saying that day, hour and even minute. Keep in mind it's in a VERY alpha state as he is quite busy. (I know cause I employ him).
